Hot Seating

Hot Seating is quite a popular technique, as it combines aspects of actor performance with aspects of participant engagement.

Using this technique the business actors start playing out a pre-scripted scenario, and then at a critical point, invite one or more participants to take over from the business actors in the action, and then continue to play out the situation to its conclusion or next critical point.

In this way participants can be eased into the role play in a non-threatening way, and they then help to shape the way the situation unfolds, perhaps trying out new ideas, or things that they particularly wish to rehearse.

Hot Seating is suitable for most organisational situations.
