Staged Scenario
A staged scenario is a straight performance of a scripted scenario by one or more actors.
This usually takes the form of a reflection of some aspect of organisational or departmental life, to "hold up a mirror" in the style of a parallel world, to depict what may be going on.
It can be created as a lifelike replica, or it can take the form of a comedy sketch, parody or pastiche if desired, to bring entertainment as well as reflection.
Humour often defuses the emotional tension that can be built up when people face difficult situations, and Staged Scenarios are particularly useful where people might have difficulty in addressing the issues.
The fully scripted scenario is used to depict the difficulty in a way that is usually easier to acknowledge and therefore address, since the issues can be analysed using the performance as the focus, and not the individuals within the organisation.
Staged Scenario technique is closely allied to both Sliding Doors technique and Forum Theatre technique, as these build upon the scripted scenario but with some limited or extensive interactions at key points.
