Sliding Doors
The Sliding Doors technique builds upon Staged Scenario, in that a scripted scenario is performed, but at key critical points in the action the performance is halted for a short discussion with the audience, and then the audience chooses from a (limited) number of options as to "what happens next".
These options are themselves scripted (and therefore lead to known outcomes), again with branching points from time to time in the action, following discussion with the audience.
Sliding Doors technique can be used to depict all of the key organisational issues, and is particularly useful when training people in the principles of appraisal, recruitment & selection, discipline & grievance, and negotiating for example.
Sliding Doors is a more flexible version of Staged Scenario. For the greatest flexibility in front of an audience however, Forum Theatre has much to offer.
